Improved Runtime and Transfer Time Prediction Mechanisms in a Network Enabled Servers Middleware

چکیده
In this paper we address the problem of accurately estimating the runtime and communication time of a client request in a Network Enabled Server (NES) middleware such as GridSolve. We use a template based model for the runtime estimation and a client-server communication test for the trannsfer time estimation. We implement these two mechanisms in GridSolve and test them on a real testbed. Experiments show that they allow for significant improvement in terms of client execution time on various scenarios.

Integrating Machine Learning Techniques to Adapt Protocols for QoS-enabled Distributed Real-time and Embedded Publish/Subscribe Middleware
Quality-of-service (QoS)-enabled publish/subscribe (pub/sub) middleware provides the infrastructure needed to disseminate data predictably, reliably, and scalably in distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) systems. Maintaining QoS properties as the operating environment fluctuates is challenging, however, since the chosen mechanism (e.g., transport protocol or caching algorithm for data persis...
متن کاملPrediction of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) properties synthesized at various conditions by artificial neural networks technique
In this research samples of PVOH were synthesized at various reaction conditions (temperature, time, and amount of catalyst). First at 25˚C and 45˚C and constant catalyst weight samples of PVOH were prepared with different degree of hydrolysis at various times. For investigation of the effects of temperature, at times 20 and 40 min and constant weight of catalyst PVOH was prepared at various te...
متن کاملDiet: A Scalable Toolbox to Build Network Enabled Servers on the Grid
Among existing grid middleware approaches, one simple, powerful, and flexible approach consists of using servers available in different administrative domains through the classical client-server or Remote Procedure Call (RPC) paradigm. Network Enabled Servers implement this model also called GridRPC. Clients submit computation requests to a scheduler whose goal is to find a server available on ...
متن کاملModular Workflow Engine for Distributed Services using Lightweight Java Clients
Abstract—In this article we introduce the concept and the first implementation of a lightweight client-server-framework as middleware for distributed computing. On the client side an installation without administrative rights or privileged ports can turn any computer into a worker node. Only a Java runtime environment and the JAR files comprising the workflow client are needed. To connect all c...
متن کاملA control service for QoS-enabled middleware
Developers of distributed multimedia applications face a diversity of multimedia formats, streaming platforms and streaming protocols; furthermore, support for end-to-end Quality-of-Service (QoS) is a crucial factor for the development of future distributed multimedia systems. Middleware is gaining wide acceptance as a generic software infrastructure for distributed applications, a growing numb...
